Changing the Narrative: Connecting Indigenous and Settler Histories at Black Creek Pioneer Village
This project is a multi-year partnership between Black Creek Pioneer Village, Jumblies Theatre Company, southern Ontario First Nations (Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and Six Nations of the Grand River), the University of Toronto Map and Data Library, and a team of York and York-affiliated researchers (Jennifer Bonnell, Alan Corbiere, and Victoria Freeman). The project will document the interconnected human and environmental histories of Indigenous and settler peoples in northwestern York/Toronto in order to inform the development of a permanent exhibition and related programming on intersections between Indigenous and settler histories at Black Creek Pioneer Village.
